La UGR impulsa el Programa Colaborativo Iberoamericano de Formación Doctoral en Inteligencia Artificial

Firmado un convenio específico de colaboración entre la Universidad de Granada, la Universidad Tecnológica de La Habana (Cuba), la Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas (Cuba), la Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" de las Villas (Cuba) y la Asociación Universitaria Iberoamericana de Postgrado (AUIP)

En la mañana del viernes, 10 de marzo, se ha firmado un convenio específico de colaboración entre la Universidad de Granada, la Universidad Tecnológica de La Habana (Cuba), la Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas (Cuba), la Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" de las Villas (Cuba) y la Asociación Universitaria Iberoamericana de Postgrado (AUIP) para la puesta en marcha y desarrollo del “Programa Colaborativo Iberoamericano de Formación Doctoral en Inteligencia Artificial”.

El acuerdo ha sido suscrito por la rectora de la Universidad de Granada, Pilar Aranda,  José Ramón Saborido Loidi, ministro de Educación Superior de la República de Cuba, y Miguel Ángel Castro Arroyo, presidente de la Asociación Universitaria Iberoamericana de Postgrado, en adelante “AUIP”.

En un acto celebrado a continuación de la firma de convenio, se ha hecho entrega de la Mención Especial de la Universidad de Granada a José Ramón Saborido Loidi, ministro de Educación Superior de la República de Cuba, por Pilar Aranda, rectora de la UGR. En este acto se ha contado con la participación de José Carlos Gómez Villamandos, consejero de Universidad, Investigación e Innovación de la Junta de Andalucía;  María Asunción Torres López, secretaria general de la Universidad de Granada y Antonio Muñoz Vinuesa, profesor del Departamento de Enfermería de la UGR.

Inteligencia Artificial: potencialidades, limitaciones y perspectivas a corto, medio y largo plazo

La Inteligencia Artificial (IA) permea todas las áreas de conocimiento y puede tener un impacto relevante en cuestiones sociales, ambientales y económicas, especialmente relacionadas con los ODS y la Agenda 2030. El Programa Colaborativo Iberoamericano de Formación Doctoral en IA tiene como objetivo la formación de investigadores que conozcan las potencialidades, limitaciones y perspectivas a corto, medio y largo plazo de la IA. La propuesta está avalada por la Universidad de Ciencias Informáticas, la Universidad Tecnológica de La Habana, la Universidad Central de Las Villas y la Universidad de Granada, y se desarrolla sobre el Programa de Doctorado en TIC de la Universidad de Granada, en el cual participan, además, profesores de otras universidades de Andalucía.

El uso de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) para automatizar procesos ha impulsado cambios económicos y sociales, que impactan transversalmente todos los ámbitos de nuestra sociedad. Estudios recientes indican que la IA puede actuar como “facilitadora” en 134 objetivos (79 %) de todos los ODS, generalmente a través de una mejora tecnológica que permita superar ciertas limitaciones actuales. Salud y reducción del hambre, educación, seguridad y justicia, e igualdad e inclusión son las cuatro grandes áreas donde el potencial de la IA es alto y en los  que la población objetivo afectada es amplia.

El Programa de Doctorado propuesto pretende convertirse en una acción estratégica para que los/as profesores/as y estudiantes de postgrado se vinculen con la Agenda 2030 y los ODS. En sí mismo, el programa es un instrumento para el ODS 4 (Educación de Calidad) y el ODS 17 (Alianzas para la consecución de los objetivos), al promover una alianza iberoamericana orientada al desarrollo de acciones formativas de posgrado para una educación de calidad, investigación y desarrollo en IA, que permitan aumentar el número de jóvenes y adultos con las competencias necesarias para acceder a empleos de alta cualificación. Además, el Programa impactará sobre otros ODS al encontrar en ellos el escenario de los posibles problemas a resolver asociados a oportunidades y retos sociales, económicos y medioambientales. Por ejemplo, el diseño y empleo de nuevas técnicas de IA permitirá avanzar en objetivos relacionados con la pobreza (ODS 1), la vida saludable, incluyendo aspectos como agua, alimentación y consumo responsable (ODS 2, 3, 6), la agricultura (ODS 2,12) o la mejora de la industria (ODS 9). Cabe destacar también el ODS 13 (Tomar medidas urgentes para combatir el cambio climático), donde la IA juega ya un papel decisivo.
